The Origin
Tatatong was the first word my daughter ever said. I had no idea what it meant, but I like to think that one day, I will. I often wonder what the world will look like when she grows up. Born into the age of the singularity, she belongs to a lucky generation. I envy her for that, though I worry about her too.
I don’t want to introduce Tatatong-bot by making grand claims about how wonderful the brand is. The honest truth is, I’m just an ordinary mother. Tatatong-bot is a key I’m giving my daughter—a key that might help her open the door to the world and find her own way to engage with it, genuinely and directly.
A Mother’s Key
There’s a good chance that none of this will interest her when she grows up. And without an impressive design background, I’ll probably face plenty of difficulties running a childrenswear brand. Still, I’m going to keep at it. This work reminds me to keep learning and paying attention. Learning how to love these little lives and walk beside them as they grow is hard work, but it’s also deeply fulfilling.
If you’re reading this and wondering what the brand is, here’s all you really need to know: Tatatong-bot was founded in Beijing in 2026 CE. We are an independent brand devoted exclusively to clothing for girls aged 1 to 16. We don’t come from an extraordinary background. We simply focus on designing and making clothes for girls.
Humans & Machines
That isn’t because I set out to make a feminist statement or build the brand around a particular ideology. Girlswear is simply what I know best. That said, I often find myself wondering: in an age like this, how should a woman find her place in the world? What qualities of mind and body will help her become the fullest version of herself?
The battle between the sexes has no place in the world of Tatatong-bot. Humanity has already spent thousands of years arguing about it, and there’s no need to keep going. The boundary between humans and machines, on the other hand—that is something truly worth thinking about.
Fear & the Future
The anxiety caused by the rise of AI isn’t entirely unreasonable. We simply haven’t yet built a mature system in which humans and AI can live side by side. The first person who learned to use fire probably walked away with a few scars too. Fear is what happens when human beings come into contact with the unknown. But we should always believe that the future can be more beautiful than we’re able to imagine.
Tatatong-bot hopes that, even amid the fears and uncertainties of this particular era, girls can hold on to their sweetness, strength and individuality—and grow into a distinctly Gen Z kind of beauty: intelligent, perceptive and fully their own.
The Future of Beauty
A child’s early years don’t become important only when she is old enough to remember them. In fact, everything she experiences before her earliest memories helps shape the way her brain develops later. It is never too early to discover beauty. Everything else will eventually fade with time. It is these vivid little lives that carry the truth of the world forward.
